Engineering Excellence Together

About Us - History

The origin of the philosophy and vision of Cross Services Engineering Limited was adopted by the founding directors in St Helens back in 1988 on the basis of providing a workable alternative to the traditional contractual and confrontational methods of operating within the electrical contracting industry.

Our whole corporate culture has developed from this early vision and today provides a non-confrontational, relationship based operation to the client, its success demonstrated by the quality of long term continual relationships established over this period with Blue Chip companies.

This approach is adequately illustrated by our long-term relationship with clients such as AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Lever Brothers and Manchester Airport, where we have developed a proactive, innovative "partnership" style of operation, which has been the model for our overall company culture.

Health and safety plays a major part in any project, our employees and staff are committed to delivering safety first and we take pride in the fact that we have consistently prioritised safety with many projects performing with health and safety statistics relating to accident free man hours significantly above the national average.

The company has gone through a number of transitions over the last 5 years that has resulted in the founding directors back at the helm. We have grown from a single core discipline into today's £20 million, multi-discipline operation which covers the full range of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation services for a wide range of industrial and a select number of commercial clients.

Current operations have developed to the extent that we are now a leading provider of the complete industrial/commercial services package, an area that is of increasing value to modern business.

We operate across all business sectors, commercial and industrial, with a strong client base built on long standing relationships with a wide selection of blue chip clients.

We have been involved in Partnership and Alliance contracts, with 14 years experience as a principal member of the AstraZeneca alliance partnership.

We have committed to the principles of the "Constructing Excellence" initiative, with all key elements of the initiative in place during 2006.

Development from the initial core electrical business has been structured to ensure a logical and supportable growth of the company, which has seen significant investment in people across a wide area, with a core of some 300 directly, employed personnel.

As a company we are committed to the skilled workforce of the future and actively promote apprenticeship schemes. We are currently supporting and nurturing 25 apprentices over their training period to provide the expertise of the next generation.
